I feel that Xillia 2 suffers from a lack of a proper response to Origin’s trial why is it just under the purview of the Spirius Corporation when it involves the fate of all mankind? Then again, the more people that get involved, the messier it would be, and informing the public would cause mass panic. Xillia lacks strong themes compared to the best Tales games. Julius murdering a bunch of people doesn’t really affect the rest of the story. I’ll just say that there are sibling relationships in other Tales games that have more payoff. Admittedly, his relationship with Ludger is kind of emotional, but overall, it’s yet another aspect where Xillia‘s story comes up short. His helping hand in Exodus’ slaughter isn’t addressed at all. It kind of puts a damper on the should-be emotional moment of his sacrifice. It doesn’t help that I forgot how he killed men, women, and children on the train at the beginning of the game until I started recapping. Speaking of which, Julius is a less successful character than Fractured Milla. However, some feel that Xillia 2 is too dark compared to the first game, with no justification. Fractured Milla’s death is probably the emotional height of the Xillia saga. That’s more than anything that happened in the first game.

Milla died – an alternate version of her, but still Milla, whose existence was just as valid as the main Milla’s. The edgier and darker character chapters are my favorites of those. I still like ToX2 better because, as sadistic as it sounds, the game is more willing to hurt its characters. Going back to ToX2 after a few years is more complicated than I thought it would be, because ToX improved in my eyes slightly after reviewing it. I like to think that Elle is still out there. As a result, you collect a lot of meaningless junk. I kind of miss giving items to shops to level them up, though that would have been repetitive too. It reuses most of the environments from ToX. I do feel that ToX2 is superior to Tales of Xillia, especially in terms of story, but it does retread a lot of ground.
